Do you have a routine? I’m sure most people have them, in some way or another. A routine could involve waking up around the same time everyday, or going to bed at a similar time. Routines include doing similar types of activities weekly or monthly. Some people would probably say that they do not have a routine, or would even look down on them, seeing them as too rigid and constricting, but we are called “Creatures of habit” for a reason.

Everyone has a routine, which consists of individual habits. Are you happy with yours? If yes, then great, but there’s always room for improvement. None of us are perfect, we can always work on ways to improve ourselves, and in turn, be a better person for the people we care about most.

If one of your habits is being late, you can use a Habit Tracker, like the one in the S’sync’t Planners, to track how often you are on time. Let’s say you are just a few minutes late to work everyday, then give yourself a consequence such as, “If I don’t start making coffee by 8:30 am, in order to leave out the door at 8:40 am,  then I do not get to make coffee and no stopping out for coffee either” or something to that effect. Be disciplined. Get ready the day before, get your clothes ready, prepare anything you need for the day ahead such as a packed lunch, or cleaning out a to-go coffee mug.

Everyone’s life situation is different, and it is incredibly difficult to break old habits, but you can do it, and something such as a habit tracker will help you hold yourself accountable. You can also make a reward system for yourself, or have it built in, like in the above scenario, you get to have coffee from home, and not the coffee from the office if that’s likely not your preferred cup of joe.

When you start seeing all of the check marks on the days where you accomplished doing that newly implemented habit, you will feel accomplished. Inversely, when you have days once in a while where you falter, that is OK, you can pick right back up where you left off. Then, when the days come, where you don’t feel like doing the habit, the workout, or waking up on time, you will quickly see all of the other days where you were able to do it, and remember that you did it before and you can do it again. The hardest part is consistency, but you’ll have already shown yourself that you absolutely can do it.

With the habit tracker you will start to be more mindful of your day to day, as you fill your days only with things that matter to you. I will never tell you what to care about, that is your business.  I just want to be able to give you the tools and perspective to help you focus on what matters most to you, so you can live your most fulfilling life.

Sincerely,

– Angelina
